Draymond Green was ejected from Game 1 of the Memphis Grizzlies-Golden State Warriors second-round series after being called a flagrant foul 2 on Brandon Clarke. When the Grizzlies players got up for a dunk, Draymond pulled him from his jersey to stop him from scoring.
That play was reviewed by referees, who ultimately decided to eject Draymond from the game, which didn’t please many people, including fans and analysts. Green made sure to mess with the home fans while leaving the court, but that doesn’t change the fact that many people thought his ejection was unfair.
Two of his peers, Damian Lillard and Trae Young had something to say about it, with both players criticizing the referees for applying the rules however they want to and making a big decision only based on the player who committed the foul.
“We gotta have better context with these rules man,” Lillard tweeted.
“Can’t officiate the PLAYER officiate the PLAY,” Trae Young added.
These two have been fouled a lot due to their offensive talents, and they obviously enjoyed watching Draymond getting ejected for that. Green’s reputation precedes him and it looks like it played a big role in his ejection from this entertaining game.
The 3x NBA champion is now watching the game in the locker room while his team is fighting for the victory. Fortunately, they’re playing great basketball and even though Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson are dealing with foul issues, they have the tools to win this game and steal home-court advantage, even with all the calamities they’ve lived today.
