Alabama adds 3,399 COVID-19 cases, 3 counties combine for almost 1,400 new cases

Alabama added more than 3,000 new COVID-19 cases for the second day in a row, according to tracking from the Alabama Department of Public Health.

On Tuesday, Aug. 3, ADPH reported 3,307 new cases of coronavirus. Today’s figures show the state had an increase of 3,399, driven in part by the addition of almost 1,400 new cases from 3 counties.

Mobile County added 665 cases while neighboring Baldwin had 315. Jefferson County posted 416 new cases. Three other counties: Madison (191) Houston (106) St. Clair (151) posted triple-digit increases.

Since March 2020, Alabama has had 595,816 COVID-19 cases with 11,561 deaths. Reported deaths were up 19 since yesterday.

Hospitalizations continue to rise as well. Yesterday, ADPH reported 1,694 people were hospitalized with COVID-19 up from 179 a month ago.
